Serving and Storage

Store cinnamon rolls in air tight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. To freeze cinnamon rolls wrap in plastic warp and place in freezer for 2-3 months. Before serving the roll allow to cool on wire rack until slightly warm.

Cinnamon Roll Recipe

Prep Time 100 minutes

Ingredients

 

Dough

  • 2 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 3/4 cup milk

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 1 packet instant yeast

  • 1 egg

Filing:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter

Cream Cheese Icing:

  • 4 ounces cream cheese

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

  • 2/3 cup powdered sugar

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Directions

 

Step 1: Mix flour and sugar:

In a large bowl mixing bowl combine flour and sugar together. Set aside.

Step2: Prepare yeast:

Place butter and milk in a small mixing bowl and microwave for 1 minute. Stir yeast into warm mixture so that the yeast is fully dissolved.

Step 2: Mix in the rest of the ingredients:

Pour yeast mixture into the flour and sugar. Add in the egg and mix until fully combined. Turn dough onto floured surface and knead until smooth for 5 minutes. Place dough into greased bowl, grease the top of the dough as well. Cover dough with cloth and let sit for 10 minutes to rise.

Step 3: Make filling:

While the dough is rising mix together brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.

Step 4: Prepare dough for baking:

Place dough on a floured surface. Roll out the dough in a 14x8 inch rectangle. Spread soft butter evenly over the top of the dough. Sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar mixture over the top of the butter. Roll the dough into a log. Cut 10-12 rolls and arrange in a 9 inch round pie dish. Cover the rolls and let rise for 60 minutes.

Step 4: Bake Cinnamon Rolls

After the rolls have rised preheat the oven to 375F. Bake the rolls for 25 minutes. When the rolls are done remove from oven and place on wire rack.

Step 5: Make the Icing:

In a medium mixing bowl beat the cream cheese until light and fluffy. Add in butter vanilla extract and powdered sugar and beat until fully combined. Using a knife spread icing over the top of the warm cinnamon rolls.
